Football Shaped Foods to Celebrate Your Team
Football Zucchini Fritters
Packed with game day spirit and flavor, these football-shaped fritters are crispy, savory, and satisfying! Plus, a dose of veggies keeps even the health nuts happy.
Ingredients:
- 2 Medium sized Zucchinis
- 1 Carrot
- 1 Large Russet Potato
- 1 Medium Onion
- 1/4 Cup Flour
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons Salt
- 2 Large Eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 Cup Vegetable Oil
- 1/2 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
Directions:
- Peel all vegetables and shred using a cheese grater or food processor. Place in a strainer and let sit for 10 minutes to drain excess liquid.
- Place shredded vegetables in a mixing bowl and toss with flour and salt to coat. Add eggs and mix until well combined. Drain any excess liquid that may result.
- Heat vegetable oil in a 12″ non-stick pan until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Use a spatula and metal football-shaped cookie cutter to form the fritters: set the cookie cutter down on a spatula, filling it with a spoonful of the zucchini mixture. Press down to create a ¼-inch thick football.
- Carefully slide the filled cookie cutter into the oil, lifting the cutter with metal tongs, allowing the football shaped mixture to glide into the pan. Repeat, wiping the cookie cutter clean between uses.
- Once fritters are fried and the edges are golden brown, remove from oil and place on a paper towel to drain.
- To make football laces, fill a zip-top bag with Greek yogurt and snip a small corner to create a makeshift piping bag.
Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese
Classic grilled cheese gets a spicy football kick! These football shaped Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese sandwiches are the perfect Game Day finger foods, sure to score a touchdown.
Ingredients:
- 3 Jalapeños
- 8 Slices White Bread
- 4 Tablespoons Butter
- 4 Ounces Cream Cheese
- 1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Directions:
- Place jalapeños under the broiler turned to high and cook for 4-5 minutes per side (or until the skin begins to blister).
- While jalapeños are cooking, butter each slice of bread on one side. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the other side.
- Sprinkle each cream cheese side with cheddar cheese.
- Once jalapeños are roasted, remove them from the oven and place in a plastic bag. Close and set aside for 5-10 minutes. Once cooled, remove from the bag, peel, slice, and de-seed.
- Place the sliced peppers on four of the cheddar cheese-topped slices of bread, topping with the remaining four slices.
- Grill each sandwich for 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown, on a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Use a football-shaped cookie cutter to make football shapes.
Extra: Use a squeeze bottle of blue cheese or ranch dressing to make football “laces” on each sandwich.
Spicy Football Deviled Eggs
Fan-favorite deviled eggs take on a football spin in this delicious recipe. Made with affordable ingredients and able to be made in advance, this appetizer allows you to enjoy the game with your guests.
Ingredients:
- 12 Hard-boiled Eggs, peeled
- 1/2 Teaspoon Brown Concentrated Paste Icing Color
- 2 Tablespoons Greek Plain Yogurt
- 1/4 Cup Finely Shredded Chicken

- 1/4 Teaspoon Sriracha
- 2 Tablespoons Fresh Cilantro, chopped
- 2 Tablespoons Blue Cheese, crumbled
- 1/2 Cup Sour Cream or Greek Yogurt
Directions:
- Fill a large bowl with hot water and brown food coloring. Submerge peeled hard-boiled eggs in the water. Allow eggs to sit in water for 5-10 minutes until colored.
- Slice the eggs in half. Scoop out the yolks and add 6 yolks to a large mixing bowl. Mix yolks with Greek yogurt, chicken, Buffalo sauce, sriracha, cilantro, and crumbled blue cheese. Mix until well combined.
- To assemble the eggs, scoop one teaspoon of the Buffalo chicken mixture into one-half of an egg and place the matching egg half of top. Repeat until all eggs have been stuffed.
